Spiritual Adjustment

Faith and spirituality are often deeply woven into a person's identity, relationships, and sense of meaning. When that foundation shifts — whether through a faith transition, a crisis of belief, or tension between one's spiritual community and personal life — the impact can touch nearly every part of a person's world, especially here in Utah where faith and family life are typically so closely connected.

What Spiritual Adjustment Often Involves

  • Questioning beliefs that once felt certain
  • Navigating a faith transition, whether toward, away from, or within a religious tradition
  • Tension between personal identity and religious or family expectations
  • Grief over a changed relationship with community or family due to differing beliefs
  • A search for meaning and belonging during a period of spiritual uncertainty

Why This Adjustment Can Feel So Isolating

Spiritual struggles often carry a unique kind of loneliness — friends and family may not understand the shift, and the person going through it may feel they've lost not just beliefs, but community, identity, and belonging all at once. The adjustment is most difficult prior to redefining one's spiritual beliefs and practices.

How I Approach This Work

My work in this area is spiritually integrated, meaning I don't ask anyone to leave their faith or their questions about faith at the door. Whether someone is working through doubt within their faith tradition, navigating a transition away from it, or trying to reconcile faith with a difficult life experience, my role is to support their process — not to steer their beliefs in any particular direction.

If you're navigating a spiritual adjustment and feeling caught between who you were and who you're becoming, I would be glad to help you find your footing on your own terms.
