photo_tonyMy name is Tony Alonzo. Based on my rich life experience, the profession of Marriage and Family Therapy really resonates with me.

I began seeing clients back in 2002. Upon completing my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University, I gained experience working with at risk teens and their families in a residential treatment setting. I soon realized that I would need to further my education in order to fully engage in my profession, and in 2005, I began my doctoral studies at Loma Linda University. At the time, they had the only COMAFTE DMFT (Doctorate of Marital and Family Therapy) program in the nation.

Throughout my professional experience, I have been privileged to work with individuals, couples, and families within a variety of therapeutic settings. I have delivered services at community clinics, residential treatment centers, in-home proctor families, emotional growth schools, adolescent in-home aftercare, non-profit agencies, and private practice.

I have developed a number of specialties within the field of Marriage and Family Therapy to better assist my clients. Through literature, research, supervision, and clinical experience, I have developed an effective approach to working with clients presenting with Pornography problems. Also, I have spent many years working with at risk teens presenting with a variety of problems including stealing, gang involvement, parental disrespect, poor academic performance, and drug use. I also enjoy working with distressed couples, particularly issues related to infidelity, intimacy, divorce, and divorce adjustment.

While many therapists feel overwhelmed, stressed, and burned out, I am rejuvenated by joining with my clients as they engage in the work necessary to resolve their presenting problems. My particular modality of therapy draws upon the established approaches including Experiential Family Therapy, Structural Family Therapy,  Strategic Family Therapy, Gestalt, and Emotion Focused Therapy. I rely upon the therapeutic relationship to create the safety needed for clients to face the difficult work they need to do in order to confront and resolve those issues which disrupt their life.

It has been a privilege working with the hundreds of clients whom I have provided therapy for. Please contact me if I can be of assistance to you, your family, or those you know of who are in need of my professional services.
